main line（名词，常用）
1)（铁路）干线/主线：一条铁路系统中最主要、运量最大的线路。
2)（引申）主流/主要渠道/核心业务线：某个体系或活动中最主要的部分。
注：在口语俚语中，mainline 还可指“静脉注射毒品”，但此义较敏感且与上面常见义不同。

火车会一直走铁路干线，直到下一个城市。
After the storm, engineers inspected the main line to restore freight service and prevent delays across the network.
暴风雨过后，工程师检查了铁路主线，以恢复货运服务并避免整个网络出现延误。
由 main（主要的、最重要的）+ line（线、线路）组合而成，字面意思就是“主要线路”。最早多用于铁路语境，后来引申为“系统中的主干/主流部分”。
